Long Term Thinking

If we focus on the here-and-now we might miss out on our blessings. Examples of living in the "right now" are seeking comfort instead of building character, wanting to be happy or fulfilling a desire instead of remaining holy, or wanting to enjoy your now instead of preparing for the future. Short term thinking keeps us from seeing what God is working on in our lives. Sometimes it is difficult to think long term in today's society because everything is based on instant gratification but we rob our future when we focus solely on enjoying today. Instead of going to that party maybe it is better to stay in and study. Instead of spending money on a pair of shoes or new clothing maybe put the money in your savings. Be careful not to get caught up in short term thinking. The race is not given to the swift, we must endure and stay on course. God has so much in store for us. Eliminate short term thinking and think about the reward we receive when we are steadfast.

Well written blog paragraph! I like the idea of thinking long term over short term to help us grow. We need to be patient for greater rewards over these instant emotions that drive us to seek any instant gratification.
